SIGIRIYA

 


Sigiriya is an ancient fortress. It was built by King  Kasyapa. This rock fortress is world famous for its frescoes.

                                             We can see the inscriptions too on the mirror wall..They are called " Sigiri Graffiti". These inscriptions have been Writteb in the from of poems.They have been written by visitors.

                                                 There is a flight of steps to the mouth of the rock. It is through the mouth of a huge carved lion. So at the beginning this rock fortress was  clled "Sinhagiriya" Later it became "Sigiriya".
The height of this fortress is 600 feet. Tourists who come to Sri Lanka never faill to visit this place.................................................................🥰

ANURADHAPURA

  Anuradhapura is a major city in Sri Lanka. It is the capital city of  North Central Province. Sri Lanaka and the capital of Anuradhaura District. Anuradhapura is one of the ancient  caoital of Sri Lanaka.                        Anuradhapura  is regarded as a sacred city becouse a branch of the  sacred Bo Tree, under  which the Lord Buddh attained Enlightenment is among the many sacred objects that make it a place of religious interest. There are lot of ancient structures in this city. Also there are  several Dagabas here.Ruwanweliseya is one of them. It was buikt by king Dutugemunu. Brazen place  is also one of his great creations. Thuparamaya,Mirisawetiya and Abayagiri Dagaba are other sacred places. A visit to Anuradhapura  gives us a clear idea of the stupendous work of our ancestors and fills with inspiration
