 SEARCH   The President  Gotabaya Rajapaksa was elected as the 7th Executive President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka following the Presidential Election held on 16th November 2019. President Rajapaksa took his oath of office within the sacred precincts of the historic Ruvanvaliseya Stupa in Anuradhapura on 18th November 2019. He is the first non-career politician and the first former military officer to be elected to the highest office in the land. He won 52.25% of the total votes cast at the election, garnering over 1.3 million votes more than his closest rival. He contested from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna party. Padaviya Deiyyanne Kanda Archaeological Ruins

 Padaviya is the uppermost idol in a mountain cave. Padaviya wewa is one of the largest tank in Sri lanka.Padaviya tank is belived to have been built by King Mahasen in the 3rd Century amd restored by Kinh Parakramabahu the Great in the 12 th century. The reservoir cover kilometers. The total camacity is 85,000 acre feet or 3.7 million square feet. There are three archeologically important sites associated with this reservoir . Deyanne kanda,Elephant viewing Mountain is surrounded by water in three directions to enter the Lake. Later the bungalow of the lrrigation Department wasbuilt here.   Sinharaja Forest Reserve is a forest reserve and a biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. It is of international significance and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO According to International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Sinharaja is the country's last viable area of primary tropical rainforest. More than 60% of the trees are endemic and many of them are considered rare. 50% of Sri Lankan's endemics species of animals (especially butterfly, amphibians, birds, snakes and fish species). It is home to 95% endemic birds. The hilly virgin rainforest, part of the Sri Lanka lowland rain forests ecoregion, was saved from the worst of commercial logging by its inaccessibility, and was designated a World Biosphere Reserve in 1978 and a World Heritage Site in 1988. Royl Botanical Gardens,Peradeniya

  Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya are about 5.5 km to the west of the city of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. In 2016, the garden was visited by 1.2 million locals and 400,000 foreign visitors.[1] It is near the Mahaweli River (The longest river in Sri Lanka).[2] It is renowned for its collection of orchids. The garden includes more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees.[3] Attached to it is the "National Herbarium of Sri Lanka".   Environment refers to the natural surroundings and conditions in which we live. Unfortunately, this Environment has come under serious threat. This threat is almost entirely due to human activities. These human activities have certainly caused serious damage to the Environment. Most noteworthy, this damage risks the survival of living things on Earth. Therefore, there is an urgent need to save the Environment. Ways of Saving Environment First of all, planting trees should be given massive attention. Above all, a tree is the source of oxygen. Unfortunately, due to construction, many trees have been cut down. This certainly reduces the amount of oxygen in the environment. Growing more trees means more oxygen. Hence, growing more trees would mean better life quality. Similarly, people must give attention to forest conservation. Forests are vital for the Environment. Kanneliya Forest

  Kanneliya–Dediyagala–Nakiyadeniya or KDN is a forest complex in southern Sri Lanka. The forest complex designated as a biosphere reserve in 2004 by UNESCO.[1] The KDN complex is the last large remaining rainforest in Sri Lanka other than Sinharaja.[2] This forest area has been identified as one of the floristically richest areas in South Asia.[3] The forest complex is situated 35 km northwest of city of Galle. The rain forest is a major catchment area for two of the most important rivers in southern Sri Lanka, the Gin and Nilwala Rivers. This biosphere reserve harbors many plants and animal species endemic to Sri Lanka. Physical featuresEdit The biosphere consists series of parallel mountain ranges and valleys.
